Weather Cast

5-14-08
A Spring storm brought a few inches of fresh snow last weekend and Northerly winds to Utah.  Snow depth is good at Skyline with spring conditions, and wet suit weather for Kitesurfers heading to the lakes.  Utah Lake and Skyline are the better calls for the next few days.

Spring thoughts with Billy

Well it’s the first day I sat and wished for wind in a while.  May 1st was the last snow day I rode this year and since then I have had about 4 good days on water and a few slog and go days.  It’s great to finally get my Instincts out on the water; they have been pulling double duty as my snow kites.  Since I had my hands on the new 08 Instinct Sport II for a bit now, I was already super pleased with what it did on snow.  Now on water the relaunch of the kite was just as easy as I had hoped.  And with a nice wide water board under my feet the pop and pull of this kite was far more then I hoped for. I can’t wait for many more water days to play with the sweet new Instinct line.

Here in Utah the water is just starting to warm up and lots of the local guys and girls are stoked to trade their Gore-tex and down for spandex and neoprene.  Since water kiting is back in swing we will be following suit, look for the new water school info to be up and running at Kiteutah.com real soon.  I know everyone in UT is just as stoked to get wet as I am; I look forward to seeing everyone out at the local spots like Utah Lake and Rush Lake, as well as my local stomping ground Deer Creek.

Come over and say hi anytime you see me out riding; I love to share the stoke with anyone, and on most days I have some sick Ozone demo gear that I would love to share.

Spring Snowkiting at Skyline
Written by Brian
Thursday, 24 April 2008

This has been one of the better winters we have experienced in Utah.  There was epic snowkiting conditions every week from December thru mid-April, with powder snow until last week.  The first week of Spring Corn has arrived, and it is as good as the powder days, maybe better now that it's warm enough to kite in T-shirts!  From here on every day counts, and every week may be our last of the Utah winter riding... yet April and May also deliver sunny spring conditions so it is not over.
